Hi! My name is Kim Szalai and I am so thankful to be the Brooks librarian. I love my job, reading and the kids! I feel privileged to work with every single student on campus. I began working in the Windsor schools in 2008 as a parent volunteer in the classrooms. I helped with Wednesday Mail, Picture Day, Art's Day, the Talent Show, Vision & Hearing Screening, the Brooks Site Council... ANYWHERE that I could be a help and cheer on my daughter and her schoolmates. In 2013 I was hired on as a Resource Specialist Para Educator. I supported students in their math, reading and writing, gaining me wonderful and valuable teaching experiences that I loved. In November 2015, I excitedly accepted the job of Library Specialist and have loved every minute since. I strive to engage with each student that walks through the doors...to encourage them during their day, to excite them about learning something new, to inform them on current events, history, important people and places and to provide a safe, fun, positive place for them to enjoy. When I'm not at work, I love being a wife, a mom, a worship leader at my church and a fun friend. I love Jesus, our cute cat, Dixie and our new, fun kitten, Boo. I love Christmas, singing and Disneyland. I love shaved ice, donuts, caramel apples and cotton candy. I love to kayak, go on long walks and scenic drives. I love traveling and exploring and hanging out with my friends. I love fireflies, twinkle lights, fireworks, glitter and sprinkles. I love watching chick flicks and going to concerts and Broadway musicals. Peonies, sunflowers and old fashioned roses are my favorite flowers. My favorite color is green. Coca-Cola is my favorite drink. I love Fall, fog and fires in the fireplace, 80's music, classic Charlie Brown cartoons, squirrels and of course READING and learning new things!
